True Colors Industrial - Detroit's Answer
Flat roofs are commonly found on commercial or industrial facilities. Flat roof substrates can be constructed from a variety of materials including wood, concrete, metal, EPDM, modified bitumen, built-up-roof, spray foam, and steel. Traditional flat roofs are black tar colored and contain many seams where material widths limit material coverage and lead to leaks. One drawback to flat roofs is with all those seams they can be very challenging to keep watertight long term. Another drawback is their dark colors absorb the sun's energy instead of reflecting it. Studies have shown the brighter and whiter a roof surface, the more energy efficient and cool running the roof will be. The UV rays from the sun can cause roof temperatures to reach 150°F-170°F during peak summertime weather. These temperatures cause the roof to expand and contract at levels that cause the substrate to shift and reshape, causing leaks in the building. Without proper maintenance flat roofs will eventually degrade to the point where replacement is necessary.
True Colors Industrial offers several options for restoring a flat roof, including fluid applied roofing systems from American WeatherStar (AWS). These heavy duty roofing systems are fluid applied (that means sprayed on as liquid), monolithic (that means seamless) and elastomeric (that means once cured, they are rubber membranes that are capable of expanding and contracting back into their original shape). All the flat roofing solutions we install offer these benefits and more:
Some benefits of the flat roof coatings we install are they are seamless, bright white, and reflective. This means, in addition to limiting the areas where a leak can occur - seams are one of the most common places where a roof leak begins - the bright white reflectivity of the roof coating makes the sun's harmful UV rays bounce off the top coat before harming the roof. This also reduces thermo-cycling, the destructive process where the sun's heat wears down the roof prematurely due expansion and contraction. Elastomeric membranes snap back into shape!
We all concerned about our environment and we all want to do everything we can to help preserve it for future generations. Roof coatings do just that. Most of the roofs we see can be restored to good as new condition without the need for a costly and complete tear off of the roof substrate which only adds to already over flowing landfills. Plus we are pleased to offer low VOC roofing systems which are every bit as good as any roofing system out there while helping to keep everything greener.
True Colors Industrial uses elastomeric roof coatings that will seal and protect almost any roof substrate including modified bitumen roofs, smooth builtup roof, gravel built up roof, spray foam, concrete flat roofs, metal roofing, EPDM, single-ply, wood, steel, and most traditional roofing systems. Our roof coatings are rubber roof membranes that are liquid applied and require minimal roof top equipment. This provides the building owner with a business as usual condition during the roof coating application process. After the roof coating application is complete, most root coating experts can offer a long term, roof coating manufacturer material and/or system warranty to keep your mind at ease.
We have roofing systems that are UL, FM, and Miami-Dade County approved. Energy Star products and systems are also True Colors Industrial standards.
